Finally! For all of you who can’t wait to hear new music from Zealyn, you know what? What are we already wait for quite long is finally come and it’s definitely really worth to be wait. Yes! Zealyn finally released her debut EP called Limbic System. Three words for this EP: Refreshing, Addicting, Amazing! Somehow, I feel so overwhelmed when I hear whole songs in this EP. I really enjoy the music from the first track until the last track. This EP has a different genre from Angie Miller’s pop-rock elements in her music before. Zealyn brings new elements in her new music and it is so refreshing. The sound of electronic instruments is quite strong in almost all songs in this EP. Even, you can hear the sound of violin and strings in one of her song called Summer Day. So good, so calm, so catchy, and so refreshing. Also, Zealyn’s voice is so great, so smooth, and definitely got my eartention. Okay, I think I can’t stop talking about how awesome her debut EP. So, now, why don’t you try to hear Zealyn’s debut EP called Limbic System below. I think you’re gonna love it. Just prepare to click replay button over and over again 🙂

Silhouette by Tom Odell

If you haven’t heard, Tom Odell just released his second LP, called Wrong Crowd, on last June 10. The deluxe album contains of 15 songs that I just cannot stop listening until now. I have so many reason why, but my top reason is because of the piano thing is my thing, and Odell satisfying my need of piano melody through this album. One of my fave song from this album is Silhouette, beside the tittle album itself, Wrong Crowd, Magnetised, Sparrow, Concrete, and… I can really going on talking about my fave songs but let’s stick into our topic, which is Currently Listening To, first 🙂

I fall for the lyric, fall for the irony of an up beat melody to describe the loss, fall for the little yet stunning detail–the piano and the violin, and the emotion in the way Tom’s sing. All those things making me playing the song over and over and eventually make this song my Currently Listening To song. Here’s the song, have a listen and tell me what do you think, okay? 🙂

Maggie Rogers

First news come from New York singer-songwriter, Maggie Rogers. Maybe some of you already heard about her before. Right! So many people said that she is the most promising singer in the future. I wouldn’t be surprised about that because her new single called Alaska is totally beautiful and completely get my ears. Alaska is an easy listening song with a wonderful and rich tunes that makes you want to do a slow dance. And her voice is so smooth and always gave me chills every time I heard it. Rogers wrote, sang, and co-produced this song by herself. The result is a totally awesome song and somehow already made Pharrel Williams brought into tears. Definitely can’t wait to hear her whole new album. Alaska already released since 17th June 2016. Now, why don’t you try to listen her new single Alaska below and I think you have to get ready to press the repeat button again and again. Enjoy the music!

Pi Ja Ma

Another news come from Pi Ja Ma, a singer-songwriter and also an artist from French. Yup! Pi Ja Ma just released her debut single Radio Girl for her new debut EP called Radio Girl EP which already released worldwide in 15th June 2016. Radio Girl is an upbeat pop song with the taste and a little bit element from 60’s music. You can feel it from the beat of drum and the tunes of the keyboard. And also the Pi Ja Ma’s voice already made the songs completely beautiful. Overall, Radio Girl is so refreshing, easy listening, and allow me to slow dancing. Bastille is Coming Back With an Easy Listening Track, “Good Grief”

The wait is over, guys! A couple of hours ago Bastille just drop a kinda ‘bomb’ to their devoted fans. Yup, finally after a long time teasing fans with a glimpse of their new album, today, they release Good Grief as their first single for the upcoming LP 2, called Wild World.

When they announced their new album earlier this year, I got a feeling that it seems like the album will contain lots of dark tune. But, Good Grief surprises me. Opposite to a dark tune, Good Grief sounds so easy listening, the bass and drums tempt you to dance and one of the lyrics, Watching through my fingers, surely will stuck in your mind once you heard the song. And, just like any other Bastille’s song, Good Grief shows their richness melody from the keyboard tunes at the background which, I bet, catch your ear. You can take a listen to Good Grief here 🙂

I definitely can’t wait to hear their whole new album, Planet Lovestarrs, which  will be released in Summer 2016. Album Review

Album Review: Moth by Chairlift

I love Chairlift. But, before Moth, there used to be only one song that hooked me so much in their album, like I belong To Your Arms in their album–Something or Bruises in their album–Does You Inspire You. Both songs are so good that it still makes me curious whenever Chairlift releases a single or an album.

ALBUM REVIEW: MOTH BY CHAIRLIFT

Moth_Chairlift

Track listing:

1. “Look Up” 2:14
2. “Polymorphing” 4:43
3. “Romeo” 3:08
4. “Ch-Ching” 3:47
5. “Crying in Public” 4:28
6. “Ottawa to Osaka” 4:55
7. “Moth to the Flame” 2:57
8. “Show U Off” 3:32
9. “Unfinished Business” 4:33
10. “No Such Thing as Illusion” 6:26

You can quite expect what will you get from Moth the first time you listen to Look Up as the opening for the album. Yes, it promising us an experiment in electro-pop music with a various tempo and Caroline Polachek voice still dominating the songs. There’s quite experiment with saxophone in Polymorphing and enchanting experiment tunes in Ottawa to Osaka and No Such Thing as Illusion. Those songs are quite hypnotizing and engaging for me that I could listen to it and weirdly feel a bit calm. Though you may raise an eyebrow to read this, but Ottawa to Osaka is kinda relaxing to listen when I want to let my mind wandering around.

Aside from the new tunes, don’t you worry, you can still find their signature music in their up beat song, take a listen to Romeo, Ch-Ching (my favorite lyrics from all of the song in Moth!), Moth to the Flame, and Show it Off. The exact composition makes you able to sing and dancing at the same time without having to worry you’ll run out of breath. Crying in Public is also my favorite. The lyrics are touchy and the music has a charm that able to soothe you. It’s hard not to feel empathy towards this love song.

My least favorite probably will be Unfinished Business. In some parts, the high tunes makes me cringe, though this one kinda feel quite emotionally one, don’t you think? Once again, I think Polachek’s voice gives so much impact.

Now that I think what makes Moth different from and makes me like it more that their other albums is it feels like natural to listen to the songs, almost without thinking, the songs could be accompany me when I do something, commute, reading, even writing. It feels fit in. Their uniqueness lay in the hodgepodge tunes that surprisingly get along nicely with Polachek’s voice. The way she sings, which sometimes in a murmur’s mode, the other time in a high pitch’s mode, make it hard to resist to join her singing the song.

There Will Be Time by Mumford & Sons Feat. Baaba Maal

I think we are agree that Mumford & Sons is a master in building climax in all their songs. If you don’t, well, try to listen to their new single with a Senegalese singer Baaba Maal, called There Will Be Time. To be honest, I don’t understand most of the verse when Maal sings in a Pular language, but clearly there’s something in his voice that makes you able to detect the sincerity and peace in it. As for the verse that Marcus Mumford sings, I fall for the “It’s all that I am, it’s all that I have” line. It feels so bare and honest and those feeling creates nothing but beautiful. I get chills every time I see this live video when they played this song in South Africa. You’ll find that actually diversity creates a beautiful harmony. And humanity is the important thing after all. And music is one of the great tool to make us realize those facts. Now, I believe, There Will Be Time will be my currently listening to for a long time.
