Throw Back Thursday

Torn by Natalie Imbruglia

I know, I know that a #ThrowBackThursday is supposed to do on Thursday, but I couldn’t make it last Thursday so kindly let me redeem it today, yea? Well, assuming you guys let me, so here I present to you the track that I’ve choose as my Throw Back Thursday, Torn by one of the notable 90’s and early 2000’s singer, Natalie Imbruglia.

Nearly 20 years making music, I bet you guys quite familiar with her single, like Torn, Wishing I Was There, That Day, Wrong Impression, or Shiver. My first encounter with her music was by a compilation album, about female singers if I’m not mistaken, released by MTV at its golden era. Since the first time I hear Torn, I like it and never been able to resist sing along with Natalie whenever I hear this song. Maybe because the lyrics successfully describe the feeling of being disappointed, maybe because the melody is so simply earcatching, maybe because Natalie’s voice is so beautiful, or maybe because all of those factors, I think Torn is one of the best song that ever written in the 90’s music industry.

Here, let’s travel back to the 97 when Left Of The Middle was being released and Natalie’s name shot to the top when people listen to Torn.

Why Don’t You Listen by James Cherry

If you like Bleachers, you probably want to check James Cherry’s music too. Wrap in an energetic tune and soulful voice, a sad song could persuade you to dance along–and that’s what this single does. James Cherry describes his music as “aggressive soul” maybe that is why you can feel the raw emotion both in his voice and the beat in this song. One thing for sure, I’ll keep an eye for his debut album. Meanwhile, let’s check his single Why Don’t You Listen here:

Ellie Goulding just released this great song since last Friday and I can’t stop hear this song until now. After her phenomenal song for Fifty Shades of Grey movie soundtrack, Love Me Like You Do, Ellie comes back with another epic song for another movie. Still Falling For You was set to be a soundtrack from upcoming movie, Bridget Jone’s Baby which will be in cinemas on Sept 16th.

Still Falling For You is definitely beautiful mid-tempo song. This song is starts with slow and soft melody from the tunes of keyboards convey the beautiful and smooth Ellie’s voice since the beginning. After the chorus, the melody become more fast with the dance beat from the electronic instruments and the sound of marching drums. I bet you’re gonna love this song since the first you hear it.

This song makes me feel curious and anticipated for her next album which we don’t know either when will be released. But, some sources said Ellie Goulding already back in the studio earlier this month. For all Ellie Goulding’s fans, just prepared for her another her epic album. Can’t wait!

Black Coffee From All Saints

It’s time for Throwback Thursday! Okay, this time I will take you to the early 2000 music which I think one of the best music era where so many great musicians introduced their great music. One of them is my all time favorite girl band from London, UK. Yupp! Our Throwback Thursday for this week is All Saints. I’m so sure you already know about them, right? So many people said All Saints is one of the most successful girl band beside Spice Girls in 90’s and early 2000’s era.

I was falling in love with their music since the first time I heard one of their song called Pure Shores which became the soundtrack of Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie, The Beach. This song already considered as one the most memorable movie soundtrack. Since then, Shaznay, Melanie, Nicole, and Natalie never disappointed me with their music.

In Too Deep from Sum 41

Wow, this new category brings back my junior high school memories. I don’t really recall how I found out about Sum 41, but I’m still remember, I have 4 albums of them–Half Hour of Power, All Killer, No Filler, Does This Look Infected, and Chuck. I picked In Too Deep as my Throw Back Thursday because this is one of their songs that I instantly love it. I still love it till today, still tapping my feet when I hear it, still singing the lyric along with Derek, and still feel the burst of energy and feeling good whenever I hear it. The song itself was release in September 2001, in the All Killer, No Filler album–which is my favorite album.

I don’t remember why I stop listening to their next album, and don’t remember too where did I keep those albums. Thanks to the new category, I remember about their music again and, of course, I’m planning to replaying their music again–I just found out that they released a best album consists of 14 best songs of them. Does anyone here listen to their music too? I heard they just released a single on late June this year, I haven’t check it. Maybe I’ll check it too. Meanwhile, if you haven’t try to listen to them, or want to join my #TBT, kindly press the play button, who knows you’ll like or fall for their music again 🙂
