Heaven I Know, Gordi’s Beautiful and Powerful New Single Just Released

Oh my God! For all Gordi’s fans, you must be feel so overwhelm when you hear this news. Yes! Gordi finally released her brand new single called Heaven I Know. This song actually already released since June 12th 2017, but how can I not know about this before. So sorry for the late news. 😦

Honestly, I’m so speechless and I think I almost cry when the first time I hear Heaven I Know. I don’t know how to describe about how awesome this song, but this is so beautiful. Gordi definitely a musical genius. The combination from all elements in this song makes everything so perfect to hear. From the repeated whispered rhythm at the beginning then Gordi’s beautiful voice with piano chords and a simple bytes, the electronic sounds, trumpet, the looping, and the sound layers at the end of the song. The lyrics also makes me speechless. Somehow, the way Gordi sing this song makes people understand how she feels towards the lyrics in this song.

I just read about the review of Heaven I Know in Atwood Magazine website. This article is so touching, beautiful, and makes me more understand about this song. The writer wrote about Heaven I Know is as much about dealing with loss as it is about growing older and accepting adulthood’s compromises and the challenges you can’t win. Gordi also said, “With a friendship, you almost throw more at it than you would a romantic partner, because when a friendship breaks it’s so much more heart-breaking”.

Yes, it is something different when you have to lose someone who really important for you, who really understand you more than you do, who made you a better person, or someone who already become your own sanctuary. That kind of relationship has more powerful connections than romantic relationship, but one thing that we can not prevent is time. As the time goes by, as we grow older, we will face so many things that might prevent us to have direct communication with our closest friend. Maybe they got a boyfriend, got engaged, get married, move to another place, have a children, got a new job, and suddenly you lose them because you are no longer their priority. Somehow, I know we can’t prevent all the adulthood things because everybody grows up someday, but I’m sure no one wants to lose their closest friend. That is the struggle that we have to face in the future when we’re adult. But I wish I can keep my closest friend forever and always make them as my priority. Good luck to all of you out there who fight for your closest one because you know it is worthy to fight for. Heaven I Know That We Tried, right? 🙂

Oh my! I think I already talk to much. But, I can’t wait to hear Gordi’s debut album Reservoir which will released in August 25th 2017. So excited! For now, why don’t you try to hear Gordi’s beautiful and powerful new song, Heaven I Know. Just press the Spotify button below and share your thoughts and opinion towards this song. Most Anticipated

Mating Ritual

You may or may not have heard the name of Mating Ritual before. Mating Ritual is a solo project from Ryan Marshall Lawhon, the lead vocal and guitarist of Pacific Air. Actually, Mating Ritual isn’t a new name in the music industry. According to its official site, Lawhon first introduces the existence of Mating Ritual back in September 2014. Ever since then, Mating Ritual already released some singles and an EP.

Though clearly Mating Ritual has start its journey long before, I still choose it as our most anticipated artist this month because 1) I only found out about Mating Ritual couple weeks ago and instantly love the music and 2) next month, Mating Ritual will release its first full LP, called How You Gonna Stop It?. The LP will be release in two volumes, the first one, consist of 7 songs, has been released earlier this year while the last volume will be out this May, 3) the first volume already won my ¾ heart!

From its official Spotify account we can take a glimpse of how’s the LP sounds like. I myself feel it like a collision between an alternative rock and electro. And the impact of that collision is a burst of energies. Take How You Gonna Stop It? as an example, it is indeed a question that pops up in my mind when I hear this upbeat song, “how you gonna stop this urge to dance and sing along the question of growing up?” The same feeling also occurred in American Muscle and Second Chance. In this album, Mating Ritual worked with Lizzy Land in two songs, Cold and Night Lies. It was thanks to Cold that I found Mating Ritual’s music and began digging more of his music.

On his blog, he talked a bit about his nostalgic point of view of an album, where we used to patiently listening to a whole album because of the lack of ability to skip song when you hear it in CD or even a cassette. I couldn’t agree more with him. Those era train us to not only giving an album a full chance to steal our attention but also becoming a soundtrack to our memories. Though nowadays you can easily skip song in album, I believe, it is safe to say that, you won’t want to skip any song in this album. Yes, that is how good the first volume for me and the base reason why I pick Mating Ritual as our Most Anticipated musician this month.

Here’s the first volume of How You Gonna Stop It?, I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do 🙂

Incredibly Wow! That’s the first thought that crossed in my mind when I heard one of Bien’s song called Crowd Goes Wild for the first time. I accidentally found this song through Spotify and I totally falling in love with this song since the first drum beat. That’s why I picked this song for our currently listening for this week.

Album Review

Album Review: To Bring You My Heart from The Katherines

First, I have to tell you that I just need one song to falling in love with this awesome and talented ladies from Vancouver, The Katherines. Right! Another Canadian musician already stole my ears with their great music. Many source called them as ‘Canadian Haim’, but from my opinion their music totally different. Kate Kurdyak, Lauren Kurdyak, and Hansen-Boucher definitely brought something unique to hear.

I accidentally found one of The Katherines’ song, Primitive, through the discover section on Spotify and somehow, I falling in love with this song since the first hear. Then, I feel so curious about their music and I found out they just released their debut LP on last January 2017 called To Bring You My Heart. This album includes 13 songs track list and I have to admit that this album was some kind of great treat for me.

The Katherines introduced us into something unique and refreshing in their debut LP. They bring their own music character and makes each song has its own muse. It makes me feel so overwhelmed and get exciting when I listened their album. Somehow, I can find so many music genres in their music, from pop, rock, dance, R&B, electro, even 60’s pop-blues or the combination between genres. Now I understand why so many source called them as ‘Harmony Masters’.

Cherry Lips definitely a great song to start the journey of this album. This song has a nice drum beat and beautiful sound of dreampop guitar. Both melodies combined with Kate’s smooth voice makes this song so good to hear. Ultra Violet has more beat than other songs with the touch of dance-pop elements. In the third song, The Katherines made a duet with Frederick to sing an interesting synth-pop song called Better Off Now. Their voice just perfect each other. Next song is one of my most favorite song in this album, Primitive. In this song, The Katherines collaborate with Charlie Kerr and Steve Bays to write this song. You can hear the sound of electronic percussion and 80’s keyboard tones and makes this song so catchy to hear. Honestly, I can’t stop listening to this song until now. 🙂

You will hear a great combination between the electronic and classic instruments like cello and violin in breakup ballad song, Heart On The Table. While Minefield and Blank Page represented pop-rock song in this album with the touch of electric guitar. You still can hear string instrument combined with pop melodies in To Bring You My Heart. KiDs also has the touch of electro-pop elements with a catchy melodies.

You definitely has something different from the other song. The Katherines brings the sound of 60’s pop-blues melodies in this song. Definitely something catchy, unique, and refreshing. Wrong Side Of The Bed is another my most favorite song of this album. The pop-dance melodies with the touch of cheerful and playful guitar sound makes this song so great to hear. Tomorrow and Replay brings also has a great melodies and become a perfect way to end the journey of this album.

Overall, this is one of the most enjoying album I’ve ever heard in 2017. The way The Katherines introduce their music character is so unique and refreshing. They are definitely something. I think they will be huge really soon. So, if you haven’t heard their debut LP yet, why don’t you try to listen it and I’m sure you will have a unique experience when you listened this album. Don’t forget to share your thoughts about this album by give comment in our music blog. Thank you and enjoy the music folks!
